The reckoning day  for 2007 has now come and and also past for the FDA to review the rimonabant medication. Rimonabant is a medication known as well as Acomplia specialy in Europe,but also in other  states and Zimulti is the name that rimonabant has  in the United States. June 13th, the FDA vote was negative regarding the recommendasion of this rimonabant to hit the  pharmacies all over USA. What is  the meaning of this negative answer  for Sanofi-Aventis and what is going to happen with this medication in the future regarding the space of  the United States?
Rimonabant has been used in the past in many European states for  treating obesity. It works really different than much more other diet medications and it also  has some other benefits. Some of the possible benefits of this medication is that it  is increasing the “good” cholesterol,and in the same time is reducing “bad” cholesterol and it is possible in the future to  help smokers quit smoking . Probably they will supervise it and that includes watching the feedback responses coming in from other doctors from all over the globe. It seems likely that a 50 month trail will then determine if this medication is going to be  accepted into the USA market, but this trail would not be complete until 2010. The FDA had been against for allowing drugs to hit the USA pharmacies also in the past, because they considered a too short of a study period. It seems that with such a possible popular medication such as acomplia or rimonant, that the FDA did not want to not know all aspects of this medication before they will accepted it in the USA.
